Note: The ducks have significantly slowed down in their egg laying for the winter.
As such we have started a first come, first serve wait list. Please email info@aquaduckfarms.com, call, or text (412) 973-7966 to add your name to the wait list. We will do our best to get eggs to everyone on the list as quickly as possible, but we won’t have enough eggs for everyone until the ducks start laying more eggs in the spring.
To help manage expectations we have disabled purchasing eggs through the website. This will allow us to estimate when we will be able to get eggs to customers before they place an order.
In order to keep costs down so the ducks have ample food through the winter we are no longer offering delivery. Orders can be picked up on Saturdays in the Conifer Staples or Morrison Home Depot parking lots. If Saturdays or those locations are not feasible, alternate times/locations to meet can be arranged.
Duck Eggs and the Flock
Duck eggs are generally larger than chicken eggs and have larger yokes. Some pastry chefs prefer duck eggs since they can help baked goods rise even without a leavening agent like baking soda. When cooking duck eggs on the stove top keep a close eye on them as they are easy to overcook.
We don't use any artificial lights or heat to extend the laying season, so the egg supply generally tapers off in the winter. The flock is made up of a variety of breeds, so each carton will have a variety of sizes and colors.
Eggs can be picked up on Saturdays from either the Conifer Staples or Morrison Home Depot. Send us an email at info@aquaduckfarms.com, call or text (412) 973-7966 to set up your pickup time and location.
